Spoken Word Collection

I so enjoy making things. I have a need to create. I have loved recently getting into jewelry making- dabbling in stamped jewelry, druzies, and other custom pieces. I recently did a women's Bible study at my church that focused on apologetics- or how to defend your faith. It started the wheels in my head turning of how I need to be more purposeful on a daily basis about sharing what I believe and who I am with others I encounter. I began to dream how I could overlap this my jewelry-making venture- and the Spoken Word Collection was born.



{Honeycomb}

Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
    sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:24
 Words.
How quickly they can build someone up. An unexpected compliment. Gracious words when harsh ones were anticipated.
But, how quickly they can tear someone down. You know the feeling. The stab right to the gut. You can’t get them off your mind. They eat you up inside and tell you what a failure you are.
As Christians, let us be the unexpected ‘honeycomb’ in someone’s day. The extra compliment. The going the extra step to tell someone what they mean to us. Words full of sweetness and honey that are like a balm to the soul. Wear this honeycomb around your neck as a reminder that because of His great love for you, we are to be His great love to others.

Use your words wisely.
{Eye}

The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
                                                            Matthew 6:22-23

I remember singing as a little child the song, “Oh be careful little eyes what you see.” Or seeing something awful and thinking, “Wow, I can’t unsee that.” How quickly is our mind filled by the things our eyes see. May this eye be a reminder to not fill our minds and eyes with things that are worthless or will defile. Let us choose carefully what we choose to see. In a day full of endless entertainment right at our fingertips, it is easy to indulge thinking there will be no harm, no foul. Philippians 4:8 instructs us to think on “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable…” So maybe it’s time we step up and evaluate just what we are allowing our eyes to see.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
                                                                                          John 8:36

He came to give us life. Freedom. Grace. Redemption.
So why do we still allow ourselves to be chained to sin in our lives? He gave his life for our freedom. God said that He loves you so much he would rather send His Son to the cross than to see you perish. Let that sink in. Drink in those words. Now take that key. Cast away those chains. Walk in freedom. You have been bought with a price.
You. Are. Free. What bondage are you ready to walk away from?


{Jewel}

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
    and the one who gets understanding,
for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
    and her profit better than gold.
 She is more precious than jewels,
    and nothing you desire can compare with her.
                                                            Proverbs 3:13-15

Wisdom. I can only hope one day someone will say of me, “Wow, she had such wisdom.” Not because I was more intelligent than the next. But because I recognized the need for counsel and wisdom in my life. For those of us in our youth, let us value the wisdom in those who have gone before us, who have traveled the road before and know how to give us direction. May we sit with them and glean from them the knowledge of their years in humility. And those that may have traveled those roads, may you seek out those who need the reassurance of your years in this journey. Share with others that you have been there. Let them know it will be okay. Wisdom. It is more lovely and precious than all the jewels in the world. I pray you wear this necklace as a reminder to stop and listen and gain wisdom from those around you. Or maybe give this to someone as a gift to say, I treasure your wisdom and are humbled that you have faithfully helped guide me through this life.


{Lightbulb}

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
                                                            Matthew 5:14-16

Light. Doesn’t take much to light up a dark room. One little candle would do the trick. We live in such a dark world. A world where hate and hurt have come to thrive. So when someone shows that random act or kindness, or goes out of their way to help someone, people notice. How will others know the Father’s love, if we don’t show them? May we be deliberate about our actions. In a world of darkness, be a light. People will notice. Point them to the Father.

Be a light.


{Gears}

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Have you ever seen the inside of a clock? Not the digital ones we now use. But maybe one like your grandmother has that chimes every hour. The intricacy of the gears blow my mind. If one came loose, there is no way I am getting it back in there correctly. But take it to a clocksmith, and he knows just where each one goes in its perfect place to make the whole thing run smoothly and help the clock to fulfill its purpose- to tell time. I think about that clock when I think of Ephesians 2:10. God has hand-crafted each one of us in a unique way. We are all so different. But if we take hold of those differences and realize the beauty of them, then we can come close to our full potential in the body of Christ. We are made by a Creator. For a purpose. Designed exactly how He wanted us to be.

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.  2 Corinthians 2:14

You’re stuck with that person in the elevator. You know, the one with waaay to much cologne. It is quite noticeable. Hard to miss, even. But sometimes, we catch a whiff of something that is sweet and perfect, leaving you wanting more. (like those cookies in the oven, oh man). I love that this verse in 2 Corinthians uses the word “fragrance” in its description. I imagine- what if I left a trail of Christ everywhere I went. A fragrance is that is strong, but sweet. Its noticeable. It’s hard to miss. It leaves you wanting more. Won’t that be our prayer? That in all we do, in all we say- we leave this trail of Jesus. There is no denying it. But may our fragrance be sweet in the midst of those we meet. May it attract others to us and from there we can point them to the source. Jesus.



{Feather & Wing}


He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
                                                            Psalm 91:4

There are just some days that leave us feeling so alone & vulnerable. Someone’s harsh words cut too deep. The trials of this world leave us feel beaten. On those days, drink in these words. He covers us. He is our refuge. On those days when it’s so easy to let the brokenness dig deep, may we let our Father take us in and whisper that We. Are. His. No trial, no words, nothing can change that. Cling to that promise. Let him be your safe place of refuge.



{Compass}

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
                                                            Ephesians 3:17-19

To serve a God whose love for us is beyond our comprehension. It surpasses our knowledge. It is so wide and long and high and deep that our brains cannot even process it. May this compass remind you that His love for you spreads farther than the east is to the west, the north is to the south. Oh, to know that unfathomable love.



{World}

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”    Matthew 28:19-20

Such a well-known passage of the Bible. How often we see it on a t-shirt or bumper sticker. But how often do we follow it? We often assume this verse is left to those who are called to be foreign missionaries or preachers. They are responsible for this passage of the Bible. No worries for the rest of us. (As we secretly sigh a breath of relief). But we are ALL called to action. As we do life, are we telling others of His great name? 
Are we making disciples? We serve a God who gave up his Son to give us life. Isn’t that a message worth sharing? May this necklace be a daily reminder to share His name. Make Him famous. Because of His great love.
